I'm not much for winter so when I see the signs of warmer weather I am much refreshed. This year was a bit strange because, here in central Texas, we have had temperatures in the 80's clear through February. I know it would be a mistake to put something in the ground now but it's really hard not to be already thinking of spring and planting and Redbud trees and Daffodils.... Watercolor 11"x11"

Title or Location: Coming to Visit
I have no kids or family and most of my friends had moved into retirement communities when the pandemic hit. I spent many hours with the books I had collected about Chinese and Japanese watercolor. I just love the way ink and watercolor come together. This little painting was inspired by all the beautiful silk paintings and illustrations from those books. It is supposed to be me and my sweet furchildren, Pavarotti and Luciano. I painted it for my Valentine's cards this year with the message - "

Title or Location: Wildflower Field
One of my favorite things about living in Austin, Texas is the inevitable return of the wildflowers each spring. I'm forever trying to capture their magnificence. I am mostly an art quilter but I experimented a bit this time, choosing instead to create a piece that could be stretched on a frame like a canvas. The faraway flowers are just a jumble of fabric and thread but the foreground flowers are mostly thread painted - one of my favorite things to do. I struggled somewhat with how to express t

Title or Location: The Path Within
"The Path Within"This painting reflects my fascination with movement, color, and the quiet power of spiritual journeys. The flowing orange and gold robes carry a sense of fire and devotion, while the bare feet suggest humility and connection to the earth. For me, it's about the grace in each step ? a moment of stillness within motion, a path that leads inwards. This piece was inspired by a visit to Myanmar-by the monks moving gracefully through green lush landscapes, the orange and maroon ro

Bold acrylics and stylized detail bring this sea turtle to life in Guardian of the Deep, a celebration of marine beauty and resilience. Vivid hues?ranging from fiery reds to tranquil teals?to echo the rich biodiversity of the ocean. Illuminated by rays of light from the surface, the turtle?s stoic gaze captures a quiet wisdom, reminding viewers of the silent strength that thrives beneath the waves.

I loved this photograph from John Strachan photography and finally got around to painting it in acrylic. I tried to be quite loose with the painting as there was so much detail. in the end I thought the sky looked a bit bare so with the help of Chat GPT I added seagulls to the photo and was then able to paint them into my art work. This painting will be heading for the Aberdeen art show the end of August for sale.
